The event was presided over by, Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro-Chancellor of Symbiosis International University (SIU) and Mr. Subeer Bakshi, the Head of People and Culture at Pocket FM was the Chief Guest.

Brig. (Dr.) Rajiv Divekar, Director of SIMS and Dean Faculty of Management SIU, warmly welcomed the new batch of students, emphasizing the institute’s commitment to providing a transformative educational experience. Mr. Bakshi discussed the role of luck in shaping careers, drawing inspiration from the ideas of Naval Ravikant. Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Bakshi recounted the job crisis he faced upon graduating, highlighting the resilience and adaptability required to navigate such challenges.

Additionally, Mr. Bakshi introduced the concepts of “Extremistan” and “Mediocristan,” distinguishing careers and jobs. He encouraged students to contemplate whether they seek a job or a career, emphasizing the need to carefully consider what they are willing to trade for money or salary.

The inaugural ceremony was a symbolic beginning of the students’ transformative journey at SIMS. The institute’s renowned orientation program, often called a “boot camp,” aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the rigours of corporate life.
